Recognising academic achievement in our community.

During what was a beautiful sunny November week here on the south coast, it was great to see so many students come together again for Bournemouth University’s graduation ceremonies. And due to the pandemic, this year was double the fun as we were celebrating not only the Class of 2021 but also the Class of 2020.

We’re proud to have worked closely with BU for more than 12 years now, which has given us the opportunity to support Bournemouth graduates by sponsoring the Bistech awards for Best Corporate Study in Business Management and Best Final Year Project in Business Technology.

So, as we reflect on two years of graduate success, let’s introduce our winners.

Bistech Award for Best Corporate Study

The 2020 award went to Oliver Lee. His fascinating project explored the demand for sustainable real estate for millennials entering the housing market and stemmed from a personal passion for sustainability in commerce.

And our 2021 winner is Georgia Pettman for her project addressing key current issues within investment banking such as social responsibility, sustainability and how women are making their mark in a male-dominated industry.

Best Final Year Project in Business Technology

Last year’s award went to Lauren Brown for her development of a fully-functioning Open Source Intelligence Aggregation Tool to make cyber threat hunting in the workplace more efficient and effective.

And this year’s winner is John Fothergill with his well-researched and presented project on developing business continuity for SMEs.

From all of us here at Bistech, we send our huge congratulations to Oliver, Georgia, Lauren and John — along with all of the students who graduated this and last year having had to adapt to studying during the pandemic.

We’re looking forward to seeing next year’s projects!
