Bistech’s National Three Peaks Challenge

Three peaks and eleven great causes!

At 04:30hrs Saturday 22^nd June, eleven of Bistech’s finest adventurers woke up in Fort William, Scotland, ready to face our biggest team Community Fund event to date: the National Three Peaks Challenge, all in support of eleven amazing charities!

Having consumed more oats between us than a stable of racehorses, spirits were high as we set off to summit Ben Nevis, racing up the mountain to reach the first of the peaks a mere three hours after setting off.

After a speedy descent (and only a handful of total wipeouts) the whole team was off the mountain in just over five and a half hours, ready to pile into the minibus and make the journey to Wasdale Head to tackle Scafell Pike.

With various levels of success at napping, a brief flurry of activity at Gretna Green services (food was far higher priority than any elopements on this occasion!), and a lot of reassurances that “we can do this team” in the bag, we set off in the glorious evening sunshine to climb into the clouds once again…

A rapid 4 hour round trip up and down the mountain meant we were back on the bus and weaving our way to Snowdon in perfect time. Go team!

Donning our head torches and raincoats, we hit the Pyg track before dawn ready to conquer our third and final peak: Snowdon. We more than made up for both the weather and the views being less than impressive, with our high spirits and celebrations at the top! If only there had been a slide to get us back down to the minibus and our loungewear rather than the remainder of our 5 hour round trip.

We toasted our success with a glorious Sunday roast (or food envy if you’re Simon and you ordered a burger…). Then we travelled back home, ready to collapse into bed and regale the rest of the team on Monday with tales of our accomplishments and show off our medals and new John Wayne impressions.

For me personally, the Three Peaks is something that I’ve wanted to undertake for a long time. I’m incredibly proud of myself — and the whole team — for having completed it with the support of the Bistech Community Fund. As a team, we’ve raised over £12,000 so far for a range of charities close to our hearts, a phenomenal amount of money that will make a real difference to people across the UK. Our chosen causes:
