Protecting Our Planet, From Shoreline to Finish Line | Bistech

Cleaning up and giving back

We only have one planet, and at Bistech, we’re dedicated to doing our part to protect it. Along with our ongoing efforts to reduce the environmental impact of our operations – such as installing solar panels at our headquarters, implementing an employee EV scheme, and achieving ISO 14001 certification – we also get involved in hands-on initiatives that make a difference in our local community.

In February 2025, we rolled up our sleeves for two great causes: a litter pick at a local beach and a sponsored walk for WWF.

Turning the tide on litter

Our first event took us to Friars Cliff Beach in Christchurch, where we teamed up with Friars Cliff Beach Care, a local volunteer group supported by BCP Council and Litter Free Dorset. Litter pickers in hand, we set to work clearing the beach of all the rubbish we could find.

Despite the dropping temperatures and biting winds, our shared purpose kept us going. By the end, we had collected 24.03 kg of litter and left feeling tired but proud, knowing we had made the beach cleaner, safer, and more welcoming for both visitors and wildlife.

Taking steps to protect nature

Last year saw us taking part in The Big Winter Wander, WWF’s annual sponsored walk, at Arne Nature Reserve in Wareham. It was a fantastic way to raise money while enjoying the great outdoors, so we couldn’t resist lacing up our boots and doing it again this year!

We headed to the New Forest this time, starting with a 5k loop through the beautiful Wilverley Inclosure. We strolled through the trees and even had the chance to meet some friendly New Forest ponies along the way. We finished with another 5k across the wide-open Wilverley Plain, taking in the stunning views of the reserve.

Despite having to track down a lost dog (and a waylaid family!), we managed to wrap up the walk just before the sunshine made way for the wind and rain.

Overall, we raised £2,350 for WWF and the New Forest Trust. Thank you to everyone who contributed!

See you next time!

A big thank you to everyone who joined us, whether you helped clean up our shores, took steps to protect wildlife on the Winter Wander, or both! Your efforts are making a real difference, and we’re proud to have you representing Bistech in our journey toward a greener future.

There’s plenty more to come, so keep an eye on our blog or follow us on LinkedIn and Instagram for updates on our latest events.
